Why fasting hikes at the Baltic Sea?
- To really switch off, to let your soul dangle and to find yourself and thus to draw strength for everyday life afterwards.
- to feel harmony, warmth and security in a group
- for preventive health care - there are hardly any healthier holidays
- to stimulate the self-healing powers
- to reduce weight
- to increase your joie de vivre
- exercise in the fresh sea air enhances the effects of fasting
- the Baltic Sea climate has a healing effect
- because the recreational value of a week of fasting on the Baltic Sea is equivalent to about 2 weeks of a normal holiday.
What can you expect during a fasting week at the Baltic Sea? A week's holiday in which you don't have to worry about anything but yourself and still discover everything worth seeing - and definitely return home slimmer and with more energy! Hiking is an ideal complement to fasting. Hiking lifts the mood, lowers excessive blood pressure and cholesterol levels, strengthens the immune system, reduces stress and promotes purification and deacidification. So it's no wonder that performance increases rather than decreases over the course of the week. Fasting while hiking and in a group is easier than fasting alone. You experience yourself and nature with a new intensity and don't always have to think about what you are doing without. A week to recharge your batteries and get to know Rostock, Warnemünde, Graal-Müritz, Heiligendamm, Kühlungsborn and the Baltic Sea coast in all its diversity with the fasting and hiking guides.
What is fasting? Those who fast do not starve. We fast according to the proven Buchinger method. We do not eat any solid food during our fasting period. Drinking plenty of herbal and fruit teas, water and a fasting soup as well as some fruit or vegetable juice to cheer you up are all we need for this time. The body switches to programme two: nutrition from within. It can feed on the available reserves for a long time. Weight loss is often a welcome side effect, but not the actual purpose of fasting. Hunger disappears. You feel better from day to day. Fasting purifies and detoxifies.

The daily routine: At 9.00 a.m. we meet, discuss the day, fill our drinking vessels and, depending on the type of fasting, have «our fasting breakfast», the morning tea. Around 10.00 a.m. we set off. We then walk directly from the house (or after travelling to our destination) between 10 to 12 km daily. 3 to 4 hours. The hikes can be shortened from almost any point. The time after returning is at your free disposal. In the evening, Buchinger fasters have a hot vegetable broth, during the day teas, plenty of water, a sip of fruit juice to cheer them up, lemon slices and a teaspoon of honey if needed. The fruit fasters get a fruit plate and fruit to take away in the morning and evening. In the evenings, the fasting leaders (alternative practitioners, nutritionists, health consultants GGB) offer a varied programme consisting of an introduction to fasting, a lecture on whole foods rich in vital substances, a lecture on herbs, a lecture on substances of concern in food and cosmetics and a lecture on «Eating right after fasting». The accompanying evening programme provides variety, but also leaves room for rest or for your own activities such as sauna, swimming, sightseeing. Of course, it is always possible to do something "on your own" and to take a break from the programme.
Our fasting week begins on the day of arrival at 4.30 pm with a welcome and general information about the programme. The end of the fast is then celebrated together on the penultimate day with the eating of an apple. Our fasting week ends on the day of departure at 9.00 am.
