The MEDIGREIF Island clinic Heringsdorf Haus Gothensee is a specialist clinic for children and adolescents on the island of Usedom with specialist departments for metabolic diseases and for mental and psychosomatic illnesses.
In the heart of the beautiful island of Usedom, in one of the most beautiful Baltic seaside resorts, your child can expect an eventful rehabilitation programme that is tailored to the needs of children and adolescents. In our specialised clinic, it is of course also possible to accompany your child during the rehabilitation programme. We would be happy to advise you personally or you can find out more about paediatric rehabilitation here on our homepage.
The Specialist Clinic for Children and Adolescents offers inpatient medical rehabilitation and paediatric treatment in accordance with § 111 SGB V and § 31 SGB VI for patients aged 1 to 18, who can be accompanied by adults from their family environment (accompanying persons: mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc.) depending on their age and health condition.
In an individual treatment programme, interdisciplinary medical measures are combined with psychotherapeutic, creative, art therapy and naturopathic treatment strategies. The active participation of the rehabilitants is always encouraged. The focus is on specialist medical, psychological, educational and nursing care as well as training courses in which help with ‘self-treatment’ is provided. For the children and young people, theoretical knowledge about dealing with the illness is combined with experience-orientated activities, such as beach volleyball, hiking and adventure park excursions. In this way, knowledge is consolidated in the long term through experience and learning and the self-management of patients and their families with chronic illnesses is strengthened.

Our young patients are accommodated in large, sunlit multi-bed rooms with a maximum of three other children or adolescents. Patients with accompanying persons stay in our family rooms or mother-child rooms.
Guests at HAUS GOTHENSEE stay in bright and friendly rooms. Individual rooms are grouped into small living areas and equipped with a bathroom. Boys and girls live separately in 2- or 3-bed rooms. For the well-being of our guests, our entire house is allergen-free. Children with an accompanying adult are accommodated in their own room.
Our clinic is optimised to meet the needs of all our patients. Guests with disabilities can also feel completely at ease in our clinic. Rooms and interior design are barrier-free and mobile-friendly. Our rooms can be adapted to meet the individual needs of our patients and can be equipped with a cot and changing table if required.
Using the natural healing powers of the environment, we offer the following therapeutic specialities, in which accompanying persons may also participate:
We are happy to offer an in-house shuttle service to and from public transport.
We offer our young rehabilitants a variety of meals at the breakfast and evening buffet as well as three different menus at lunchtime. Diets such as reduced, diabetic or light diets are of course offered if prescribed by a doctor. Our nutritional experts work closely with the hospital's own kitchen. Allergies and food intolerances are of course also taken into account.
The children and adolescents learn to incorporate balanced nutritional therapy into their daily routine and by the end of the rehabilitation programme they are little nutrition experts themselves.
Our specialist clinic is located in our beautiful Baltic seaside resort of Heringsdorf, close to the forest and within walking distance of the beach.
For the sake of the environment, we recommend travelling by train. Travel in comfort by using the Hermes luggage service and our free shuttle service from Heringsdorf railway station to the clinic.
If you arrive by car, our new video-monitored clinic car park is available for a fee.
Here you will find some information on how to get here.
