A night full of discoveries: On April 4, 2025, the Ribnitz-Damgarten City Library invites you to the NIGHT OF LIBRARIES - with an escape room, book dating, live music and lots of surprises on three floors!

Under the motto "Know. Share. Discover.", libraries throughout Germany will shine in a special light on April 4, 2025 for the NIGHT OF LIBRARIES. With a diverse program of events, workshops and hands-on activities, the German Library Association invites all citizens to rediscover their local library. Ribnitz-Damgarten has two reasons to celebrate! Our town library was named Library of the Year 2024/2025 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and this will be duly celebrated on 4 April with some highlights at the nationwide NIGHT OF LIBRARIES. For one night, the library in Ribnitz Monastery will be bathed in atmospheric light. Everyone who wants to discover the library with new eyes is invited. On this night, the curious can be surprised on all three floors: Who will solve the puzzle in the escape room? What is a makerspace? How does book dating work and can you take part? And what are all these cuddly toys doing here in the library at night? Curious people will find answers to these and other questions at the Night of the Libraries... bring your favorite book with you or find it in the library!
Come along, there's a lot to discover during the Night of the Libraries: The city library shines for one night on three floors. Let yourself be surprised by handmade live music with character by the new choir formation Kileen around percussionist Ronny Bruch, experience a unique performance by the theater group "Die Schlündelgründer", get to know nice people and new books at the book dating and maybe join the party in the foyer later in the evening. We look forward to a magical night of libraries!
