Reading with Peter Wawerzinek
Next date: 15/03/2025, 05:00 pm - 06:30 pm in Bad Doberan
In Doberan, I will tell above all how I learned, lived, grew up and moved away, only to return again and again to the places, people and memories that I want to call my own, like the sea that sustains me
Peter Wawerzinek was born in Rostock in 1954. His mother fled to the West when he was three years old, leaving him and his younger sister unprovided for in the apartment. Days later, the children were found by neighbors. Peter Wawerzinek grew up in a children's home on the Baltic Sea, separated from his sister. For over fifty years, he tormented himself with the question of why his mother had left him as an orphan in the GDR. Then he found and visited her. The result is probably his best-known novel "Rabenliebe", a literary explosive device that German literature had yet to offer.
Peter Wawerzinek reads from "Rabenliebe" and his other publications. Admission €10.
In the exhibition "von Bruchkante bis Rocksaum" with works by Anne Mundo (ink painting) and Heike Roesner (paper objects)
