Nidden artists' colony

Nestled between the Baltic Sea and the lagoon lies the picturesque town of Nida in southern Lithuania on the Curonian Spit. It looks back on a rich tradition as one of the oldest and most important artists' colonies in Europe.

It was above all the incomparable landscape that magically attracted the artists of the renowned Königsberg Academy. The artistic activities of 400 artists can be traced back to 1945. Nidden was not only a place where artistic energy was concentrated, but also a multiplier of an overarching European cultural identity.

Until the end of March 2025, the art museum will be exhibiting over 120 works that had a particular influence on the development of European art movements.
