By mail boat to the Arctic Circle
Next date: 19/11/2024, 07:30 pm in Waren (Müritz)
A glance at the map shows a country with a bizarre geographical shape in the far north of Europe: just six and a half kilometers wide at its narrowest point, it measures almost 2,000 kilometers in length from the south coast to the North Cape. It seems to consist almost entirely of a breathtaking labyrinth of jagged, enormous fjords and bays with countless skerries. The country certainly has the most incredible coastline on earth!
Until modern times, there were only a few overland routes connecting the south with the widely scattered places in the north. Only one route was considered passable all year round: the sea route. And it was this shipping route that gave the country its name: the route to the north - Norway.
The mail ships of the legendary Hurtigruten have been transporting people, mail bags and goods to the far north along this coast with precision and reliability since 1893. For travelers, Hurtigruten is a fascinating mixture of a good piece of tradition and an everyday means of transport for the coastal inhabitants as well as a relaxing sea voyage with all the comforts of a cruise. And Hurtigruten certainly offers a unique way to get to know Norway, the coastal country, from the sea!
"For me, this is the most authentic and beautiful way to travel Norway. In my elaborately designed multi-vision show, I present you with a photographic kaleidoscope of the landscapes, places and encounters along the Hurtigruten, allowing you to participate in the long journey to the far north of Europe with intense impressions!" - Roland Marske
